CBD is a natural constituent of the hemp plant and has been researched for its potential health properties. Across the UK alone it’s taken by over a quarter of a million people to help with everything from anxiety to relieving pain.

There still needs to be a lot more research undertaken when it comes to the effects of CBD but many people believe it has a variety of health benefits including:

Reducing anxiety: A study has shown that cannabidiol may have an impact on problems such as social anxiety and panic attacks. It might also improve sleep and boost concentration according to some users.

Heart disease: While it is in no way considered a cure-all, there is some evidence that CBD oil may well help reduce the risk of a heart attack. This could be down to its anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties which may mean that CBD has a protective effect. Most of the evidence to date, however, has come through relatively focused studies and small sample sizes so more work needs to be carried out in this area.

There are also suggestions that CBD helps with controlling pain relief in some way and may even have positive effects on the skin(because it is thought to have anti-bacteriological properties.

Because some evidence supports the use of CBD in conditions such as epilepsy, the compound is often thought to be good for athletes and may well have beneficial effects on areas such as muscle spasms and post workout fatigue or injury.

How to Take CBD as a Dietary Supplement

CBD supplements can be taken in a variety of different ways. You can find topical applications for the skin but there are also a range of oils, tinctures and pills you can buy.

A lot will, of course, depend on your personal preference though you should always ensure you buy from a reputable store who are up front about their products and give out plenty of information.

The CBD supplement market is still largely unregulated so make sure you do all the research you can before buying.
